Wooden Gear Clocks
"Get It Together" and "Poor Riches" made by the Lignum Clock Company complement each other, one with more traditional warm tones and woods, the other with progressive modern styling. The gears are made out of a complex array of quarter sawn cherry designed for durability and stability. The dials and frames are constructed from several layers of solid quarter sawn oak. Arbors and posts are precision machined from high grade steel. A variety of bearings are used including glass ball and nylon race ball bearings, oil impregnated sintered bronze bushings, and traditional brass bushings. The gear teeth are designed by computer and are theoretically correct epicycloids providing the ultimate in smooth operation and accuracy.
Our computer controlled automated machinery cuts the gears with extreme accuracy while much of the finishing is still done the old fashioned way, by hand. The Kuyt family have been clock makers for three generations and are proud to bring you these most recent offerings representing many years of experience and knowledge in clock making.
